Best Beaches On Koh Tao
1. Freedom Beach
Freedom Beach is a slice of paradise and is definitely one of the best beaches on Koh Tao! This beach is incredibly relaxing and has everything from large granite boulders, clean sand and slightly wavy, crystal blue water. You can relax under the shade of one of the many trees or lay in the sun for hours. If you visit on a clear sunny day then you’ll notice how perfect and blue the water is. The ocean is the perfect condition to float around in all day.

2. Taa Toh Bay
Taa Toh Bay is another beautiful and more hidden beach located on Koh Tao. This beach is a tiny, quiet little beach which is located right next to Freedom Beach. Taa Toh Bay offers calm, clear blue water and clean course sand. It is also a great spot to relax on an ocean front hammock or play a round of volleyball on the designated volleyball court. There are also beach chairs for you to relax on to make yourself more comfortable. If you’re after something quiet and secluded then this is definitely one of the best beaches on Koh Tao for you.

3. Sairee Beach
Sairee Beach is Koh Taos most popular beach. This is where you will find the majority of accommodation, bars, tattoo shops and food. Even though Sairee Beach is fairly busy with tourists, it is very large so you can always find a spot tucked away under a tree for yourself. You’ll also find bent palm trees and many beach front swings. The ocean during the day can be slightly murky although the sand is the perfect spot to relax all day. Our favourite thing about this beach is that you can witness the most beautiful sunsets as the sun sets right in the centre of the beach.

4. Chalok Bay
Chalok Bay is a large and quiet beautiful stretch of beach. The shallow waters make it the perfect spot to walk out onto the many sandbanks. The area is very quiet with also a few beach front restaurants and hotels. Since this beach is so shallow, you will most likely have to go out quite far to have a proper swim. Alternatively, you can save the swimming for one of the many other beaches on the island such as Freedom Beach which is located close by. You can also view Chalok Bay from a viewpoint which is located just around the corner!

5. Shark Bay
Shark Bay is one of the best beaches on Koh Tao for snorkeling! As you can guess from the name, Shark Bay is famous for its many small blacktip reef sharks that are common in this area. Unfortunately in this area of the sea, a lot of the coral and ocean floor is dead and badly damaged so you wont find much colour. However, you’ll still be able to view some incredible marine animals! The beach itself is also a great place to relax in front of the many beach resorts. The sand is perfectly grainy and white while the ocean is also great for a quick dip if you’re not looking to snorkel.

6. Koh Nang Yuan
Koh Nang Yuan is technically a small island only 10 minutes away from Koh Tao. However, the beaches on this island are absolutely incredible! Koh Nang Yuan is something out of a dream as the water is crystal clear all the way out and surrounded by large granite boulders. You’ll be able to spend all day lounging on the perfect white sand as well as exploring all that this small island has to offer.
