Brighton Bathing Boxes are one of the most popular attractions close to the city of Melbourne. The reason they’re so popular is because there are roughly 80 colourful beach huts spread all along the beach. Many tourists and locals come to take photos against the vibrant boxes. Each bathing box also has a unique pattern, so you won’t find two of the same!
How to get to the Brighton Bathing Boxes
The Brighton Bathing boxes are roughly a 30 minute drive from Melbourne. If you’re unable to drive yourself, you can also catch the public train which takes almost the same amount of time. Catch the train from Flinders Street Railway Station all the way to Middle Brighton Railway Station, then walk 10 minutes to the beach.
Where to stay in Melbourne
The best area to stay in Melbourne would be in the CBD as you have access to endless food, shopping, and transport. There are plenty of budget, mid range, and luxury options in the city. A cheaper budget friendly option located in the CBD is City Square Motel, while a more luxury option is the Intercontinental Melbourne. Both hotels are in a great area and close to a variety of attractions and restaurants.

What to expect
The Brighton Bathing Boxes are an awesome spot to visit not far from Melbourne. As soon as you arrive on the beach, you’ll see the colourful huts along the back of the beach for as far as you can see! When we visited, there were plenty of tourists and tourist buses. Although if you wait till they leave then you can have this awesome place to yourself.
Each hut is unique in colour so no two huts are the same. Some huts have vibrant patterns, some have murals of sports teams, and others have quirky artwork. You can walk all along the beach and find your favourite one. Locals own the huts so keep in mind not to try enter or damage them in any way. Once you’re done taking photos of the huts, you can lay in the sand and enjoy the ocean. On a hot day this beach is also busy with locals who just want to go for a swim and enjoy the ocean.
