Bukit Merese Lombok is a popular sunset spot in the south of Lombok, close to Kuta. This spot has incredible panoramic views of the unique landscape, as well as the neighbouring beaches and endless ocean. You can enjoy a beer while sitting on top of a mountain range to observe the amazing view. If you’re after an unforgettable sunset full of colour, be sure not to miss this beautiful spot.
How to get to Bukit Merese Lombok
We visited Bukit Merese Lombok straight after visiting Pantai Tanjung Aan because they are located right next to each other. From the main area of Kuta, Bukit Merese Hill is roughly a 20 minute drive.
The best way to get around Lombok is by renting a scooter. We rented our scooter for 50K IDR per day. Getting around the island is very easy because majority of the roads are newly paved. Some of the roads leading to the beaches are unpaved with bits of rock and loose gravel, but nothing too extreme.
The entrance fee into Bukit Merese Lombok cost 10K IDR per vehicle. This fee also gives you access to Pantai Tanjung Aan Beach as you can access both spots from the same car park area. The carpark for the Bukit Merese Hills sunset spot is just a little further down from the beach carpark.
What to expect at Bukit Merese Lombok
From the car park, the Bukit Merese Hills sunset spot is located only a short 5 minute walk away. On the walk up you will be offered different food and drinks by the locals, such as Bintang beers and ice cream.
Bukit Merese Lombok is the perfect way to end the afternoon after spending all day at the beach. This spot is incredibly relaxing as you will find many locals and foreigners drinking a beer while watching the sky erupt in colour. One of the best parts about this sunset spot is that it’s not just one viewpoint. The area opens up and there are plenty of different hills and vantage points which you can sit and watch the sunset from. This means you’ll always have a spot to yourself!
The landscape is incredible and almost looks like a barren desert with dark browns and oranges. Additionally, there is a dead tree that stands on its own, making for some epic photos, especially with the sunset in the background.
