After 8 months of living in Bali, we’ve discovered some of the best cheap eats in Canggu! If you’ve been to Canggu, you’ll know that there are hundreds of trendy cafe’s that serve delicious food. With the huge amount of tourists, these places typically charge western prices, making it hard to score yourself a meal for a local price. However, there are a few exceptions! Whether you’re backpacking on a budget or are looking to cut down your spending without missing out on delicious food, here are some of the best cheap eats in Canggu.
The Best Cheap Eats in Canggu
Satu-Satu Coffee Company
Price range: IDR 25,000 – 50,000 (AUD $2.50 – $5)
Satu Satu is our go to for breakfast and also brunch. We’ve only recently discovered this place but now it’s part of our everyday morning routine. The staff are SUPER friendly and are always so welcoming. They have a large selection of breakfast options for a very reasonable price. They are also very popular for their delicious coffee. A breakfast Panini is only 30K IDR ($3 AUD) and an omelette with toast is 25k IDR ($2.50 AUD). We definitely recommend trying out their Lady Gaga Bowl which is a delicious dragon fruit smoothie bowl for 50k IDR ($5 AUD). It’s one of the best smoothie bowls we’ve had in Canggu!
Tip: This cafe does get quite busy in the mornings and they are sometimes even full. You may find yourself sharing a table with others so you can try going earlier or later to avoid the breakfast rush.

You’ll be able to find anything western to suit your cravings. They serve burgers, wraps, pasta, pizza, curry, as well as local food. Prices at La Pa Nam are also some of the cheapest in all of Canggu for western food. Some of our favourites are the falafel burger, chicken wrap as well as the chicken parmigiana. The wraps and burgers are generally around 40K IDR ($4 AUD) and they all come with a generous side of chips/wedges.
Tip: La Pa Nam sometimes gets busy at night around 7-8pm so be sure to head there a little earlier if you’re looking to go for dinner.
Roti Canai Street Kitchen
Price range: IDR 20,000 – 40,000 (AUD $2 – $4)
This great little gem in the heart of Canggu is perfect if you’re craving some cheap roti. They also serve a variety of other dishes like smoothie bowls, poke bowls and Indonesian food but we typically only come here to have their delicious roti menu. Their smoothie and poke bowls are a little more expensive. However, they have a wide selection of roti dishes to choose from which range between 20K – 40K IDR ($2 – $4 AUD). Our favourite roti is the chicken and mushroom as well as the potato and bacon. All of the roti dishes also come with a delicious side of curry sauce!
Price range: IDR 55,000 (AUD $5.50)
Crate Cafe is on the higher end of this list, however the food is definitely worth the extra cost! If you can afford to spend a little bit more, we definitely recommend this place. All items on the menu are 55K IDR ($5.50 AUD) excluding drinks. Crate has a large selection of western breakfast/brunch options and the portions are huge! Our favourites are the VETO (salmon, avocado, cherry tomatoes and eggs on toasted sourdough) as well as the BARBER (maple syrup, bacon and scrambled eggs on french toast). They also have a variety of healthy super bowl options and delicious smoothie bowls. This restaurant is always busy and we can see why! Definitely give this place a go for yourself.
