The best way to access the tea plantation is by car or motorbike. You can’t access the tea plantation by public transport as buses don’t run there. We were lucky enough to drive by car to the tea plantation. Choui Fong tea plantation is roughly a one hour drive from Chiang Rai city centre.
The tea plantation cafe is open from 8am – 5:30pm daily however you can browse the fields before it opens. We arrived to the tea plantation at 7am to watch the sunrise and to take photos without anyone in them. The best time for photos is around 7am so that you can capture the golden lighting.

What to Expect at the Choui Fong Tea Plantation
Choui Fong Tea Plantation is a beautiful landscape of perfectly maintained tea fields. There are many vantage points where you can look down at the fields while observing the workers. Additionally, the wooden platform that leads out over the fields is a perfect location to view the the different layers.
We arrived very early so that we could watch sunrise over the fields. Watching the sunrise was an unforgettable experience as the fields lit up in an orange glow from the sun. If you visit during sunrise while there are no people around, you will have an unforgettable and peaceful time. It does get very busy during the day so be sure to keep that in mind for when you visit!
