The waterfall to our surprise was actually quite high and very powerful. We watched as people were struggling to swim up close to the waterfall because of all the power and strong gusts of wind. However, further back from the waterfall are plenty of rock pools where you can chill and cool down. If you’re not interested in swimming but still want to escape the sun, there is a stone hut with some benches for you to sit on.
There is an awesome vantage point which provides a good opportunity for some unique photos. If you cross the river, just beside the big tree, you’ll find a small dirt trail that leads up the hill to the right of the waterfall. The view is incredible and you’ll also be able to get a different perspective of the area.
Gitgit Waterfall is also a popular spot to do canyoning where you can explore the surrounding area and waterfalls. There are plenty of local companies in the area that offer their canyoning services. It’s a great experience if you’re up for cliff jumping, water sliding and abseiling.
