Haad Rin is a popular area to stay for backpackers and people who like to party. If you’re not already staying in the area, it is roughly a 25 minute drive from Thong Sala Pier. As you approach the beach there are many steep hills so take extra caution. We drove ourselves on our scooter which we rented for 180Baht per day. You can also rent a jeep on the island for 1000Baht per day.
Where to stay
There are plenty of budget and luxury accommodation options all around Koh Phangan. We decided to stay near Thong Sala pier as it was close to the popular night markets and food markets. A nice budget accommodation option in this area is Tranquil Bungalows by Beck’s. You’ll have your own little bungalow close to everything that you need. A luxury option close by is also the popular Kupu Kupu Phangan Beach Villas which has an infinity pool overlooking the beautiful blue ocean.

What to expect at Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan
Haad Rin Beach Koh Phangan is famously known for hosting the monthly full moon parties. What many people don’t realise is that this beach is also one of the nicest beaches on the island. As we stepped onto Haad Rin Beach, the perfectly thin white sand amazed us! All along the beach you’ll find tourists relaxing in the sun although its not too overcrowded or crazy during the day. The water is also clean and blue although it’s fairly shallow unless you go far out.
The beach of course has endless bars and a few hotels. Tourists on holiday won’t have to go far as this area has everything you need from all types of food, restaurants and bars. Every night the beach comes to life, although once a month during the full moon party is when things really get crazy. During this time, the beach is full of alcohol buckets, fire swings and people crammed onto the beach. It’s definitely a fun experience with a group of friends.
