What to Expect
The Hoi An Motorcycle Food Tour is a must if you’re in Hoi An. We had the chance to try several delicious Vietnamese dishes which we never would have tried without doing the tour. The most unique thing about the tour is that you get to ride on the back of a motorcycle which allows you to take in the beautiful Hoi An scenery. The hosts were also incredibly friendly and spoke great English which made for a great experience.
Hoi An Motorcycle Food Tour Itinerary
To start the tour, your lovely guides will pick you up from your hotel. After quickly running through the days schedule, you’ll head off on the motorbikes to your first stop. The first stop is to a local farming area where they grow most of the vegetables for Hoi An. The farm has such a fresh smell as they grow everything from sweet potatoes, spring onion, mint and lettuce. They plant everything by hand and also use dried seaweed as fertiliser. After you’ve finished smelling and admiring all the different herbs, you’ll head to your first restaurant.
The first restaurant you’ll stop at is Riverside Garden Restaurant where you’ll try delicious fried shrimp and pork wontons. This stop was certainly our favourite as you eat your food on a small boat which cruises down the river. To protect yourself from the sun, they also give you traditional Vietnamese hats while you admire the river. The fried wontons were delicious and one of our top foods of the day. After you return, you will head to the next restaurant.
Next is a smaller and more local family owned restaurant. Here you will try delicious Cao Lau and have some refreshing juice. Cao Lau is only found in Hoi An and it is made of noodles in a small amount of soup, topped with slices of pork and different herbs. Its a very filling dish and served almost everywhere in Hoi An so you’ll be able to have it multiple times during your stay.
Finally, your fourth and final stop will be at a local market. Here you’ll walk around and see the different types of herbs, spices and noodles which they sell. Additionally, you’ll sit at one of the local stalls where you will have a feast! Our guides gave us 4 different dishes which consisted of Vietnamese spring rolls with lettuce and prawns, Vietnamese shrimp dumplings, Vietnamese rice paper rolls and White Rose. To top it off we also had delicious smoothies. We sat here for a while as we tried to finish off all the food. Each dish was delicious and we enjoyed every one of them. Our favourite from the market were the rice paper rolls. After this, your guide will take you back to your hotel where you can sleep off all the amazing food.
We definitely recommend the motorcycle food tour as it’s a great way to try different foods you otherwise never would have. We had the most amazing time being shown around by KKday Travel and definitely recommend checking them out! If you’re after an authentic day out with some friendly locals then this is the activity for you. For another awesome Hoi An experience, be sure to also check out the River Basket Tour.
