Where to find Kangaroos on the beach in NSW

One of the most well-known beaches along the northern coast of NSW to have Kangaroos is Emerald Beach. Emerald Beach is located in Coffs Harbour and is roughly a 5 hour drive from Sydney. The Coffs Coast is home to some stunning beaches with plenty of options for both surfers and swimmers.

Best time to find the Kangaroos on Emerald Beach

The best time to see the Kangaroos on the Beach is either at sunrise or sunset. This is when not many people are about and when you’re most likely to see kangaroos . We recommend going at sunrise as that’s when we visited. We managed to see a whole bunch of kangaroos on the beach and headland at Emerald Beach. Plus, there’s nothing quite like starting your morning watching a spectacular sunrise over the ocean.

The kangaroos can sometimes be seen roaming the beach, but most the time you’ll have better luck seeing them on the headland at Emerald Beach. From the beach carpark, you can follow the Dammerel Headland Track which will only take you 5 minutes. The other option is to walk along the beach and up the stairs that leads to the headland.

Emerald Beach is a stunning spot along the Coffs Coast that has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. There’s also a small town where you’ll find cafes behind the beach, making it the perfect place to grab some food or coffee as you enjoy the coastal views.
