There are plenty of budget and luxury accommodation options all around Koh Phangan. We decided to stay near Thong Sala pier as it was close to the popular night markets and food markets. A nice budget accommodation option in this area is Tranquil Bungalows by Beck’s. You’ll have your own little bungalow close to everything that you need. A luxury option close by is also the popular Kupu Kupu Phangan Beach Villas which has an infinity pool overlooking the beautiful blue ocean.

What to expect
Mae Haad Beach Koh Phangan is a long stretch of beach which has course sand and patches of clear blue water. This beach was much busier than most of the beaches we visited on Koh Phangan. There were all kinds of people from large families on holiday to young backpackers. The beach has everything you need for a day out, including beach front massages as well as a few restaurants. You’ll also find beach front swings where you can relax in the sun.
A unique feature of Mae Haad Beach is that it is connected by a sand bank to a small island called Koh Ma. During low tide you can easily walk across the small sand bank to get a closer look at the island. Koh Ma itself doesn’t have access to explore the whole island. However, you can walk around some of the outside to find a nice spot to relax. Due to the sand bank, you have two different sea types on each side. One of the sides is a popular snorkeling spot so be sure to rent a snorkel so you can explore the underwater life.
