Mirissa Beach is a beautiful, large stretch of beach located in the south of Sri Lanka. This beach was one of our favourites in the whole country because of its perfect ocean conditions, white clean sand and laid back vibe. You’re sure to want to spend every moment on this beach.
Where to stay in Mirissa
There are a variety of places to stay within Mirissa, as well as a range of different accommodation types. We found that the best area to stay is right near Mirissa Beach. Here you’ll find the most food and shop options. We stayed at Little Pink House which is a short walk from the beach in a quiet local street. We definitely recommend staying here as it’s like having your own home. You’ll find a little pink house on a small block of land with its own garden, kitchen and bedroom. Every morning the lovely owner also comes by and makes a delicious breakfast! You definitely won’t want to leave here. Paradise Beach Club is also a popular luxury option right on the beach with nice rooms and it’s own pool.

Happy Hour on the beach pretty much goes all day. During this time you’ll be able to grab a beer for around 250 Sri Lankan Rupees ($2 AUD). Food along the beach also isn’t too expensive and you’ll find plenty of restaurants.
What to expect
Mirissa Beach was our favourite beach in Sri Lanka and you’re sure to love it too. From its clean clear water to the laid back vibe, the beach has something for everyone. Something that we also loved was that no one came up to bother you or try sell you anything. We spent most of our days by the ocean, taking in the beautiful surroundings. The beach also has beautiful sunsets so you can relax all the way until night. At night the restaurants along the beach put out dozens of chairs and tables so people can eat out along the sand. We found some of the restaurants to be a decent price if you got something like rice and curry.
For those who want to check out a cool viewpoint, Parrot rock is located to the left of the beach. Parrot rock is a small hill viewpoint which gives you panoramic views of the whole beach and surrounding area. You can even see Coconut Tree Hill from here. The walk up takes 2 seconds so you can go up and down all day.
Mirissa beach and the surrounding areas were the highlight of our trip and we hope to be back one day. For another beautiful beach nearby, check out Secret Beach Mirissa.
