Overlap Stone on Koh Samui is located in the upper jungle area of Lamai. We drove ourselves on our scooter from the main tourist area of Chaweng which took about 30 minutes. Additionally, from Lamai Beach it’s only a 10 minute drive. After taking the turn off the main road you’ll head up some fairly steep roads. A few minutes later and you’ll reach some red signs indicating the motorbike parking area.
Where to stay in Koh Samui
The most popular area to stay in Koh Samui is on the east side of the island, close to Chaweng beach. We stayed close to the Samui Poshtel and found it to be the perfect spot. If you’re not on a budget then you can check out the resorts in the area such as The Samui Beach Resort as well as Baan Talay Resort.

What to Expect at Overlap Stone Viewpoint Koh Samui
There are signs indicating a different viewpoint at the parking area which is only a short walk up the rocks and well worth a visit. The viewpoint opens up above the dense palm trees and green jungle, providing some stunning panoramic views of Lamai Beach.
Overlap Stone is just a little further up from this viewpoint. Head back to the road and continue walking up the steep path until you reach an abandoned car. Theres also a red hand painted sign attached to a tree which will point you in the right direction. Walk 100m and you’ll come across what appears to be someones backyard. This is where you’ll see the bridge leading onto the boulder.
The incredible boulders rest naturally on top of each other, looking as if it’s about to topple over. The sturdy bridge leads out onto the stone where you can walk alongside the boulder. Once again, the view opens up above the winding roads through the jungle as well as the blue waters of Lamai Beach. When we visited, there was no one else around so we took our time taking photos and admiring the awesome view.
While you’re in Koh Samui, don’t forget to also check out some of the famous temples, such as the Big Buddha temple.
