How to Get to the Sunflower Fields NSW
The sunflower fields are located at Farm & Co Kingscliff which is at the northern end of NSW, almost bordering QLD. People tend to visit the sunflower fields when they’re on the way to Byron Bay as it’s too far away. If you’re heading up from Sydney it will take you around 8 hours so this spot is best visited as part of a road trip. However, if you’re coming down from Brisbane, it’s only a little over an hours drive.
Byron Bay is the closest popular area as it’s only a 40 minute drive to get to Farm & Co Kingscliff. There are no public transport options available, so you’ll have to drive yourself.

Entry into Farm & Co Kingscliff will cost you $5 per person. It’s free for children under the age of 12 years.

When are the sunflowers in bloom?
If you plan on visiting, be sure to plan your trip between December and March. These months are when the sunflowers start to bloom, although it can vary depending on the weather conditions. The Farm & Co Kingscliff Instagram bio will let you know when the flowers are blooming and their current state.
What to expect
The Farm & Co Kingscliff sunflower fields are an amazing sight to see and explore. As you arrive at Farm & Co Kingscliff, you’ll walk through a small fruit and veggie shop. Here you’ll find locally grown mango, garlic, lettuce and much more. You’ll also have to pay your entrance fee at the register before you get to visit the flowers. Once you’ve walked through the small store, you’ll see the giant flowers in the distance. When we went, there were two fields of beautiful yellow sunflowers.
Within 10 minutes of Farm & Co Kingscliff opening on a weekend, there were quite a few people turning up to take photos with the amazing flowers. It’s best to get there early if you want to find yourself the perfect place to take photos without anyone else around. The fields are quite large and there are a few fields, so you’re sure to find a spot to yourself. Be sure to also watch out for all the bees when trying to take photos in the flower fields.
If you want to take one of the sunflowers home with you, you can even pick your own sunflower for $4 AUD. The owners of Farm & Co Kingscliff NSW are super nice and do a great job of maintaining the sunflower fields. You can support the owners by shopping at their organic fruit/veggie store.

The best area to stay that’s closest to the sunflower fields is Byron Bay. Byron Bay is a cool coastal town that’s popular amongst surfers and backpackers so you’ll find plenty of hostels and beach resorts.

Byron Bay Beach Hostel – Midrange: Byron Bay Beach Hostel is a popular choice as it’s situated right by the main beach and is in the middle of all the action. They provide both dormitory rooms as well as private rooms for couples. If you’re looking for somewhere affordable to stay and a central location, this is the place. They also have a bar and outdoor dining area with a bbq that guests can enjoy.
Backpackers Inn On The Beach – Budget: Backpackers Inn On The Beach is a great budget option that offers guests plenty of awesome on-site activities. They have their own beach volleyball court, outdoor swimming pool, table tennis, and even a moonlight cinema. The hostel in situated right by the beach and they also provide a free shuttle service and bike hire. You’re sure to have a great time and meet some other backpackers here!
