How to Get to the Sunflower Fields NSW
The sunflower fields are located at Farm & Co Kingscliff which is at the northern end of NSW, almost bordering QLD. People tend to visit the sunflower fields when they’re on the way to Byron Bay as it’s too far away. If you’re heading up from Sydney it will take you around 8 hours so this spot is best visited as part of a road trip. However, if you’re coming down from Brisbane, it’s only a little over an hours drive.
Byron Bay is the closest popular area as it’s only a 40 minute drive to get to Farm & Co Kingscliff.
Where to Stay
The best area to stay that’s closest to the sunflower fields is Byron Bay. Byron Bay is a cool coastal town that’s popular amongst surfers and backpackers so you’ll find plenty of hostels and beach resorts. Byron Bay Beach Hostel is a popular choice as it’s situated right by the main beach and in the middle of all the action. Elements of Byron is the best resort in the area, offering beautiful private modern villas. The resort is also in a more quiet part of town so you’ll be able to have the ultimate comfortable stay.

What to expect
The Farm & Co Kingscliff sunflower fields are an amazing sight to see and explore. If you plan on visiting, be sure to plan your trip between December and March. These months are when the sunflowers start to bloom, although it can vary depending on the weather conditions. The Farm & Co Kingscliff instagram bio will let you know when the flowers are blooming.
As you arrive at Farm & Co Kingscliff, you’ll walk through a small fruit and veggie shop. Here you’ll find locally grown mango, garlic, lettuce and much more. You’ll also have to pay your entrance fee at the register before you get to visit the flowers. Once you’ve walked through the small store, you’ll see the giant flowers in the distance. When we went, there were two fields of beautiful yellow sunflowers.
Within 10 minutes of Farm & Co Kingscliff opening on a weekend, there were quite a few people turning up to take photos with the amazing flowers. It’s best to get there early if you want to find yourself the perfect place to take photos without anyone else around. Be sure to also watch out for all the bees when trying to take photos in the flower fields.
If you want to take one of the sunflowers home with you, you can even pick your own sunflower for $4 AUD.
