1. Nam Xay Viewpoint
Nam Xay viewpoint is at the top of our list for best things to do in Vang Vieng. This viewpoint is unlike anything we have ever seen! A moderate 20 minute hike will lead you to the top of a jagged mountain and allow you to view the incredible landscape filled with unique cliff formations which can only be found in Laos. It’s also very peaceful and quiet at the top which makes it the ideal spot to soak up the breathtaking views. Additionally, there are plenty of different angles and views for you to take some unique photos.

2. Explore Rice Fields
If you visit during the wetter season, the rice fields in Vang Vieng will be in full bloom. Everywhere you look there are tall bright fields of green. Hop on a scooter and drive around to explore all the amazing spots you can find within the rice fields. You’ll be able to drive around for ages just admiring the landscape of Vang Vieng.
3. Tham Chang Cave
Tham Chang Cave Vang Vieng is a spectacular cave which opens up to a variety of different pathways. Before you enter the cave you’ll have to walk up a long steep stairway which is surrounded by lush greenery. Each pathway leads to different sections where you’ll be able to see rock formations hanging from the ceiling. Cave exploring is very unique and this is definitely one of the most interesting things to do in Vang Vieng. You’re sure to have an awesome time while exploring the different pathways and getting lost in the cave!

4. Hidden Blue Pools
These Hidden Blue Pools are located right outside Tham Chang Cave, although plenty of people walk straight by! If you’re looking for somewhere to cool off away from crowds, then we definitely recommend checking this place out. The pools look like something out of a fairytale with it’s glowing blue water, rock formations and lush greenery. This spot is mainly popular with locals so you wont find it busy with tourists. These hidden blue pools are also incredibly relaxing and definitely an awesome way to spend an afternoon.

5. Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is the most popular spot in Vang Vieng to go swimming. It is very close to town which makes it easy for crowds of tourists to spend the day here cooling down. This spot definitely isn’t as secluded and quiet as the Hidden Blue Pools, however it offers different activities like rope swinging and zip lining above in the trees. Although it’s called blue lagoon, it isn’t the best blue water that we have seen. There are actually 3 different blue lagoons all located separately so be sure to check them all out if you have time.
