Where to stay
There are plenty of budget and luxury accommodation options all around Koh Phangan. We decided to stay near Thong Sala pier as it was close to the popular night markets and food markets. A nice budget accommodation option in this area is Tranquil Bungalows by Beck’s. You’ll have your own little bungalow close to everything that you need. A luxury option close by is also the popular Kupu Kupu Phangan Beach Villas which has an infinity pool overlooking the beautiful blue ocean.

Things To Do On Koh Phangan
Visit The Beaches
On our short visit to Koh Phangan, we managed to visit 6 of the amazing beaches that this island had to offer. Beach hopping is definitely one of the top things to do on Koh Phangan. There is a beach for everyone, from popular beaches with bars like Haad Rin Beach, to secluded slices of paradise like Leela Beach. Another favourite of ours was Chaloklum Beach which was so peaceful and relaxing that we could have spent the whole day there! No matter where you’re staying, you’ll be able to enjoy the crystal clear water and perfect white sand from just about anywhere on the island.
Enjoy Sunset at a Bar
Theres no better way to finish off the day than relaxing at a bar and watching an insane sunset. Two of the best bars to have a drink and watch the sunset from are Amsterdam Bar and Three Sixty Bar.
Amsterdam Bar is famous for its chilled out vibes and perfect view of the sunset. Additionally, many people come to this bar to smoke which is where it gets its name ‘Amsterdam Bar’. However, they still serve plenty of drinks and food for those who prefer not to smoke.
Three Sixty Bar is another great bar which has panoramic views of Mae Haad Beach and Ko Ma Island. This chilled out spot is located on top of a hill and has the best view in all of Koh Phangan. You’re sure to have an awesome time hanging out with friends while listening to music and admiring the perfect view of the setting sky.
Exploring waterfalls is another awesome day trip and one of the many things to do on Koh Phangan. However, be sure to visit in the right season otherwise you’ll be disappointed by dried up waterfalls and rock pools with no water in them. If you visit in wet season, you’re more likely to see some powerful falls.
Even though there wasn’t much water, Wang Sai waterfall was still beautiful and awesome to explore along the bright rocks. During wet season you would have rock pools full of refreshing flowing water which would be a great place to relax for the day! Another unique waterfall was Paradise Waterfall which was full of locals having a go on the rope swing and jumping into the swimming hole. This place was an awesome spot to hang out with locals and spend a day chilling in the cold water.
Eat at the local street markets
The nightly food markets were one of our favourite things to do on Koh Phangan. The best market is Phantip Night Market which is located right near Thong Sala Pier. Here you’ll find all different kinds of food, from traditional Thai dishes, vegetarian options, cheap desserts and delicious smoothies. All the food is very cheap, ranging from 30 Baht for a chicken pastry to 80Baht for a vegetarian burrito. The market is open daily from 4PM to 11PM.
Another great market is the weekly Saturday market which is also located right next to Thong Sala Pier. The whole road is blocked off and replaced with many tents with different foods and clothes. When we visited we even saw puppies for adoption. Everything at this market is also very cheap and is a great way to spend your Saturday evenings. The market is open every Saturday from 5PM to 10PM.
Have a Drink at The Full Moon Party
One of the most famous things to do on Koh Phangan is to visit the full moon party. The full moon party happens once a month and is notorious for its alcohol buckets, music and fire shows. You’ll be sure to have a wild night walking along the beach and drinking while dancing to the blasting music. Entrance into the full moon party costs 100Baht per person. You can also pay for LED body paint and clothes so that you glow under the lights. Visiting the Full Moon Party is a must if you’re looking to have a wild night out with some friends!
