Thomas Beach is a quiet hidden gem located in the south of Bali. It’s one of the lesser known Uluwatu beaches, but it’s equally as beautiful as the rest. You’ll find a variety of cute cafes and sun beds, making it the perfect place to spend your day.
How to get to Thomas Beach Bali
Thomas Beach is in Uluwatu in the south of Bali and is just over a 1 hour drive from Canggu. To reach the beach, the easiest option would be to hire a moped and drive yourself. You can rent a moped for around 50K IDR ($5 AUD) per day. The drive down south can be quite busy and chaotic, so if you’re not a confident driver, the next best option would be to hire a driver. Prices usually start from around 500K IDR ($50 AUD) per day.
The road leading to the Thomas Beach carpark is very rocky and bumpy, and is located directly across from Suka Esepresso Cafe. From here it’s a quick 2 minute drive. The walk down to the beach will take you around 5 minutes and is fairly easy down some concrete stairs. On the way down you’ll have a beautiful view of the beach.

What to expect
Thomas Beach is a beautiful, quiet surf beach known for its great waves and clear water. As you make your way down the stairs onto the beach, you can stop and admire the beautiful coastline. You can even walk all the way along the beach to reach the large cliffs at the end. Once you arrive on the sand, you’ll notice plenty of nice cafes and restaurants all along the beach. We think they would be the perfect place to admire the beach while having a morning coffee.
If you visit in the afternoon once the tide has gone out, you’ll be able to swim in the calm blue water. The water is very clean along the beach which makes it the perfect spot to go for a dip. The beach also has many sun beds which the locals will try and sell you. They’re great for relaxing on a hot day. This beach is fairly quiet in comparison to the many other Uluwatu beaches, so you’re sure to find a nice spot to relax.
If you really love Thomas Beach Bali and want to stay even longer, there are a few guesthouses located metres from the beach. It would be a super unique place to stay and would also make visiting the beach really easy.
